Northern Arizona struggled offensively against Southern Utah and couldn’t fight back after an 8-1 Thunderbirds run gave Southern Utah a 61-50 lead with 1:09 left in regulation. Northern Arizona shot just 28.6% from the field and 7.1% (1-14) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Lumberjacks was Corey Brown who had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and a block in 22 minutes from off the bench. The Northern Colorado Bears had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 16-10 (7-6 Big Sky) on the season after being defeated by the Weber State Wildcats, 71-66 in OT, this past Saturday. Northern Colorado allowed Weber State to fight back from a 29-19 deficit at halftime to force overtime and couldn’t fight back after the Wildcats, Jerrick Harding, made a jumper that gave Weber State a 69-65 lead with just 18 seconds left in regulation. Northern Colorado shot just 34.2% from the field and 13.3% (2-15) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Bears was Jordan Davis who had 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Lumberjacks are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games however, are just 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 Thursday games. The Bears are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record however, are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
It’s been a disastrous season for Northern Arizona as they’ve lost 11 of their last 12 games and rank just 322nd in scoring offense and 316th in scoring defense. Northern Colorado led one slip away against Weber State on the road however, the Bears have been tough this season and have been led by their offense that ranks 62nd in scoring offense and 91st in three-pointers made per game. Northern Arizona won’t win this game, however, the Lumberjacks are 1-3 on the road in their last 4 games with their 3 losses coming by just an average of 9.4 ppg and as I think the Bears will let off on the gas in the 2nd half once they have a comfortable lead, I think the Lumberjacks get a backdoor cover with this many points. Take Northern Arizona and the points.
