The Northern Illinois Huskies welcome the Akron Zips to town for a Saturday college basketball bout.

The Akron Zips missed out on a 2-0 start in the MAC with a 88-86 OT loss at Central Michigan as a 1.5 point road favorite on Tuesday.

Jimond Ivey topped the Akron attack with 24 points, eleven rebounds and seven assists while Daniel Utomi added 18 points and six boards.

The Zips received 16 points and five pulls from Tyler Cheese followed by Loren Cristian Jackson and Channel Banks with 12 and nine points.

The Northern Illinois Huskies are eyeing a 3-0 start in the conference after downing Miami (OH) 83-70 as a three point road dog on Tuesday.

Northern Illinois was up by eight points at the halfway point and never gave in behind torrid 57.7% marksmanship.

Dante Thorpe led a strong Huskies offense with 24 points and seven rebounds and five helpers while Eugene German added 23 points and five pulls.

Levi Bradley gave  the Huskies  16  points and  six  boards followed by Lacey James who contributed ten points.

Akron Zips are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and Akron Zips are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Mid-American. NIU Huskies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and NIU Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Mid-American. On fIrst look I was thinking Akron but digging further in to this and Northern Illinois isn’t bad…
