Northern Kentucky Norse -11.5 O/U: 152.5
The Oakland Grizzlies will face the Northern Kentucky Norse in college basketball activity on Saturday.
Oakland tumbles into this matchup with an 11-14 mark overall. The Grizzlies are just 1-2 in their last three, taking out Cleveland State while falling to Youngstown State and Wright State in that stretch.
In the loss to the Raiders, Oakland’s top scorer was Jaevin Cumberland with 19 points, four assists and three rebounds. Brad Brechting doubled up for the Grizzlies in that one with 16 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Northern Kentucky side, they’re 19-6 this season. The Norse fell in consecutive games to IUPUI and UIC, but got back on track Thursday with a win over Detroit.
In the win over the Titans, Northern Kentucky’s Drew McDonald led the way with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Trevon Faulkner added 12 points for the Norse there, and Jalen Tate had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Grizzlies are 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in the last four after a straight-up loss. Oakland is 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the Horizon.
Meanwhile, the Norse are 2-5 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win and 1-7 ATS in the last eight Saturday games. NKU is 0-4 ATS in the last four after an ATS win and the under is 4-1 in their last five after an ATS win.
Oakland has been playing better lately overall, but they’re still prone to lapses here and there, such as the 76-62 loss to Wright in their last outing. Otherwise, the Grizzlies haven’t been playing too badly over their last handful of games.
I don’t think the Grizzlies have got the legs to keep up with Northern Kentucky at home. That said, if the line were much thinner I’d take the Norse here, but as it is I think Oakland can get in there and cover. The ATS trends seem to agree.
