Notre Dame, Indiana
Notre Dame Fighting Irish -5.5 O/U: 144
The Boston College Eagles and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will meet up in college basketball action Saturday.
Boston College enters this one at 9-5 overall. Following a four-game win streak, the Eagles have lost their last three outings versus Hartford, Virginia Tech and Virginia.
In the loss to the Cavaliers, Boston College’s top scorer was Nik Popovic, with 16 points and three rebounds. The only other Eagle in double-figures was Ky Bowman with 15 points, three rebounds and two assists in that one.
Over on the Notre Dame side, they’re 10-5 this season. After four straight wins over Purdue, Binghamton, Jacksonville and Coppin State, the Irish have dropped to Virginia Tech and Syracuse their last two times out.
In the loss to Syracuse, Notre Dame’s Temple Gibbs led the team with 18 points, five assists and two rebounds. John Mooney doubled up for the Irish on 14 points and 14 assists, and DJ Harvey added 11 points.
Boston College is 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five following a double-digit loss at home. The under is 4-1 in the Eagles’ last five Saturday games and 27-8-1 in the last 36 versus the ACC.
Meanwhile, the Irish are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the ACC. Notre Dame is 1-5 ATS in the last six home games and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 overall.
Boston College is licking their wounds after facing two straight ranked teams, and there will be plenty more tough matchups as the season progresses. First they’ll have to face a fairly competitive Notre Dame team, though.
The Irish don’t usually overwhelm on the scoreboard, but they do have some defensive strength and can hamstring teams who usually have their way offensively. That said, I think the Eagles have enough depth to get past that, so I’m going BC on the cover.
