The Line: Notre Dame Fighting Irish -7 -- Over/Under:
We have some ACC college basketball action on tap Tuesday night, as the Boston College Eagles take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Boston College Eagles will look to build some momentum after snapping a 3 game losing streak with an 80-72 win over Georgia Tech in their 2nd straight overtime game in their last outing. Jordan Chatman and Jerome Robinson tied for the team-high with 19 points apiece for BC, with Chatman shooting 7 of 18 with 5 threes, while Robinson went 6 of 11 from the floor while dishing out a team-high 5 assists. Ky Bowman came 2nd with 17 points on 6 of 13 shooting with 3 triples along with 4 assists and a pair of steals while Johncarlos Reyes added 10 points to finish off the double digit scoring for Boston College in the win. Steffon Mitchell chipped in 8 points with a team-high 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the winning effort for the Eagles. Robinson leads Boston College in scoring with 19 points per game while Mitchell leads the Eagles on the glass with 8 rebounds per game and Bowman is BC’s top assist man with 5 helpers per game this season. As a team, Boston College is scoring 75.7 points per game on 45% shooting from the field, 37.2% from behind the arc and 73.2% from the foul line this season.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will look for a win that would snap their current 7 game losing streak following a 76-58 loss to NC State in their last outing. Matt Farrell led the Irish with 16 points on 5 of 13 shooting with 4 threes, while Temple Gibbs added 14 points on 4 of 12 shooting with 3 threes as the only other Notre Dame player to finish in double figures scoring in the losing effort. Martinas Geben and Austin Torres tied for the Notre Dame lead with 6 rebounds each, while Rex Pflueger added 7 points with a team-high 7 assists in the loss. Gibbs leads Notre Dame with an average of 15.7 points with 3.2 assists per game while Geben leads the Irish with 7.8 rebounds per game. As a team, Notre Dame is scoring 75.3 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 36.4% from behind the arc and 75.8% from the foul line this season.
Boston College is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 conference matchups and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games while the over is 6-0-1 in their last 7 games overall. Notre Dame is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games while the under is 11-5-1 in their last 17 conference matchups. Boston College is 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The Eagles haven’t had much luck ATS in this matchup, but that should change given the current form that the Irish are in. Like I know Notre Dame is at home, but how can anyone lay points with how the Irish have looked over the last month. I knew Notre Dame would struggle without Colson but I never thought it would be this bad. Either way, the Eagles have to be feeling better after snapping their losing streak while Notre Dame just looks lost and I wouldn’t be surprised to see BC pull off the outright win here, but I’ll take the points just to be safe.
