The Clemson Tigers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will match up on the college basketball circuit Wednesday.

Clemson enters this one on a 17-12 mark so far. Following consecutive wins over Boston College and Pittsburgh, the Tigers fell in a tight one to North Carolina on Saturday.

In the loss to the Tar Heels, Clemson’s Marcquise Reed topped the team with 24 points, three assists and two rebounds. Elijah Thomas doubled up on 14 points with 11 rebounds for the Tigers there, and Clyde Trapp put up 15 points with five boards.

Over on the Notre Dame side, they’re 13-16 this season. The Irish are currently riding a five-game losing skid, falling to Virginia, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Louisville in that time.

In the loss to the Carnivals, Notre Dame’s John Mooney put up 22 points with 13 rebounds and three assists to lead the way. Prentiss Hubb added 16 points and six assists for the Irish there, and Temple Gibbs put up 11 points.

The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 overall. Clemson is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 versus the ACC.

Meanwhile, the Irish are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 versus the ACC and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 home games. Notre Dame is 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 overall.

Clemson nearly pulled off a huge upset against UNC with a nice second half, but eventually fell 81-79. The Tigers have faced three ranked teams since February 9 and have been highly competitive in two of those games.

As such, I’m not too concerned about Clemson going on the road here. Notre Dame doesn’t necessarily have the firepower to pose a legitimate threat, so I’m sticking with the Tigers on the cover.
