The NC State Wolfpack and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet in an ACC college basketball matchup from Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center on Saturday afternoon.

The NC State Wolfpack will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games following a 71-67 road loss to Wake Forest in their last outing. Torin Dorn led the Wolfpack with 18 points on 8 of 16 shooting with a team-high 8 rebounds while C.J. Bryce added 17 points on 7 of 17 shooting with a pair of threes with 3 assists as the only other NC State player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Devon Daniels added 7 points and 8 rebounds of his own while Braxton Beverly added 9 points with 3 threes and 3 assists. DJ Funderburk chipped in 3 steals and a pair of blocks along with 4 points as well in the defeat. Dorn leads NC State with an average of 14.4 points and 7 rebounds per game this season while Markell Johnson (who is questionable for this game with a back injury) leads the Wolfpack in assists with 4.1 assists per game this season. As a team, NC State is averaging the 6th-most points per game in the country, scoring 87.3 points per game, on 49.8% shooting from the field, 38.2% from 3-point range and 69.9% from the foul line this season.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will look to rebound after losing 3 of their last 4 games after a 75-69 road loss to North Carolina in their last outing. Prentiss Hubb led the Irish with 18 points on 6 of 16 shooting with 4 threes and a team-high 6 assists while John Mooney added 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting with a game-high 19 rebounds and 4 blocks for the double-double and D.J. Harvey added 15 points on 5 of 9 shooting with 3 threes to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for Notre Dame in the losing effort. Temple Gibbs was held to just 5 points matched with 5 assists as well in the defeat. Gibbs leads the Irish with an average of 14.1 points and 3.9 assists per game while Mooney leads Notre Dame in rebounding by averaging a double-double per game with 13.7 points to go along with a team-leading average of 10.4 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Notre Dame is averaging 74.8 points per game on 41.5% shooting from the field, 34.2% from behind the 3-point line and 74.1% from the foul line this season.

NC State is 10-21 ATS in their last 31 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Saturday games. Notre Dame is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games following a loss. NC State is 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

A lot can be made of NC State’s strong start to the year, which is where a lot of the Wolfpack’s scoring came from. NC State’s loss to Wake Forest was also the first ACC game where the Pack failed to score 82 points, so there’s still some positive signs for NC State here. However, the Wolfpack haven’t been all that good on the road, as two of their 3 losses came away from home and NC State has failed to cover any of their last 3 games as a favorite. Notre Dame has had issues of their own, especially at home as of late, but the Irish are well-coached and have had the upper hang on NC State in recent meetings. Notre Dame also showed a lot of heart against UNC, and I like for that effort to carry over here, so I’ll take a shot with Notre Dame and the point in this one.

Pick:
Notre Dame +1
