The IUPUI Jaguars will travel to the Athletics Center O’rena to take on the Oakland Golden Grizzlies this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The IUPUI Jaguars had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 16-14 (8-9 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Detroit Mercy Titans, 87-85, this past Thursday. IUPUI fought back to make it a game late after trailing by a 48-40 margin early in the 2nd half, however, struggled defensively down the stretch and couldn’t fight back after a Derrien King FT for the Titans gave Detroit Mercy a two-possession game with just :06 seconds left in regulation. IUPUI shot 55.0% from the field, however, allowed Detroit Mercy to shoot 50.0% from the field & 34.5% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Jaguars was Camron Justice who had 22 points and a steal.

On the season, IUPUI is averaging 77.2 ppg on 45.7% shooting from the field. The Jaguars are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, IUPUI has been led by Camron Justice (19.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.3 spg), Jaylen Minnett (11.8 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.9 apg), Evan Hall (9.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.3 bpg), and D.J. McCall (7.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.4 spg).

Defensively, IUPUI is allowing their opponents to average 73.5 ppg on 44.8% shooting from the field. The Jaguars have a rebound margin of 4.9 and a turnover margin of 0.4.

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies won their 3rd straight game and improved to 14-16 (10-7 Horizon) on the season after defeating the UIC Flames, 86-72, this past Thursday. Oakland led by a 39-36 margin at halftime and pulled away in the 2nd half after taking a 75-57 lead with 5:26 left in regulation. Oakland shot 45.5% from the field and won the turnover battle by a 20-12 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Golden Grizzlies was Brad Brechting who had 20 points, 8 rebounds, and an assist.

On the season, Oakland is averaging 77.0 ppg on 46.8% shooting from the field. The Golden Grizzlies are averaging 9.5 three-pointers per game on 38.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oakland has been led by Xavier Hill-Mais (18.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.3 apg), Jaevin Cumberland (16.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Karmari Newman (9.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Braden Norris (8.2 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.4 spg).

Defensively, Oakland is allowing their opponents to average 76.8 ppg on 46.5% shooting from the field. The Golden Grizzlies have a rebound margin of -4.3 and a turnover margin of -0.6.

The Jaguars are 4-15-2 ATS in their last 21 Saturday games and just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Golden Grizzlies are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.

IUPUI has lost 5 of their last 7 games and although their offense has been solid, ranking T-70th in scoring offense, the Jaguars have struggled defensively as they rank just 235th in scoring defense, and 239th in defensive FG%.

Oakland has won 4 of their last 7 games and have been led by their offense that ranks 74th in scoring offense, 67th in FG%, and 27th in 3P-FG%.

Oakland gave IUPUI all they could handle in a 73-71 loss on the road earlier this season, however, I think the Golden Grizzlies offense is going to find more success at home, especially as they are coming off back-to-back double-digit home victories. IUPUI has picked up a couple of big wins this season, however, the Jaguars haven’t looked great over the past few weeks and as IUPUI is just 3-10 on the road this season, I’m taking Oakland to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
