The Toledo Rockets take the floor at the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in Friday college basketball.

The Toledo Rockets finished atop the MAC West with a 23-11 record a year ago but still did not advance to the Big Dance. Toledo was all about scoring the basketball at 79 points on 46.7% shooting while allowing 74.5 points.

The bad news for the Rockets is do everything guard Tre’Shaun Fletcher graduated and takes 18.1 points and eight rebounds with him.

The good news is Toledo has enough experience and production back to challenge again in the MAC with Jalen Stanford bringing back 16.3 points while forward Nate Navigato and center Luke Knapke averaged 12.2 points and 10.8 points respectively and combined for 10.5 rebounds.

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies began the year with a no doubt about it 99-45 rout of sub-division Kalamazoo College. Oakland took a 54-17 lead in to the locker room and never looked back with a 52.9%-29.6% shooting advantage.

Xavier Hill-Mais topped the Golden Grizzlies attack with 17 points on 5-9 from the floor with Karmari Newman right in his shadow with 16 points on 6-11. Babatunde Sowunmi  added eleven points and five helpers while the duo of Jaevin Cumberland and Braden Norris chipped in with nine points each and a combined nine boards and nine assists.

Toledo are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and Toledo  are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. Under is 7-1 in Oakland last 8 overall and Oakland are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games and Oakland are 7-22 ATS in their last 29 games overall.

Toledo lost their best player but Oakland appears to have lost more…
