The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Ohio State Buckeyes meet in Big Ten college basketball action from the Value City Arena on Tuesday night.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will look to build on wins in 5 of their last 6 games following a 76-70 overtime win over Indiana in their last outing. Tyler Cook led the Hawkeyes with 18 points on 7 of 12 shooting with 8 rebounds while Jordan Bohannon added 5 threes as part of his 17-point outing. Luka Garza added 16 points with 9 rebounds to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Iowa in the win. Nicholas Baer added 5 points with a team-high 10 rebounds and 3 blocks while Connor McCaffery dished out a team-high 5 assists in the winning effort. Cook leads Iowa with an average of 16 points and 8 rebounds per game while Bohannon leads the Hawkeyes in assists with 3.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Iowa is averaging 80.4 points per game on 46.6% shooting from the field, 37.3% from behind the 3-point line and 75% from the foul line this season.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will look to rebound after a 72-62 loss to Maryland last time out. Duane Washington Jr. led the Buckeyes with 15 points along with a team-high 4 assists while Andre Wesson added 13 points with 3 threes and 4 assists and Keyshawn Woods had 10 points with 4 steals to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Ohio State in the loss. Justin Alvens added 9 points with 3 threes and a pair of steals while Kaleb Wesson chipped in 7 points to match his team-high 7 rebounds. Kaleb Wesson leads Ohio State with an average of 14.4 points and 6.5 rebounds while C.J. Jackson leads the Buckeyes in assists with 3.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Ohio State is averaging 70 points per game on 44.7% shooting from the field, 35.1% from behind the 3-point line and 72.6% from the foul line this season.

Iowa is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 12-26-1 ATS in their last 39 road games while the under is 11-5 in their last 16 games following a win. Ohio State is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games overall and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference games. The home team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

Home court has been a huge part of the success in this matchup, so I can understand why Ohio State would be favored here, in addition to Iowa’s struggles ATS both overall as of late and on the road dating back quite some time. However, I still feel that even on the road, we are getting the free points with the better team in better form and that’s usually a good way to increase your bank when picking games. Iowa is a scrappy team that is well coached and doesn’t usually beat themselves, and while it’s not always pretty, you can’t argue with results as the Hawkeyes have been getting the job done lately. I just feel that Iowa is easier to trust than Ohio State, so I’ll take Iowa and the free points here.

Iowa +1.5
