The Baylor Bears and the Oklahoma State Cowboys will match up on the college basketball court Monday.
Baylor enters this game at 9-6 on the year. The Bears are 3-2 over their last five games, taking out Oregon, New Orleans and Iowa State while falling to TCU and Kansas during that time.
In the loss to the Jayhawks, Baylor guard Jared Butler put up 14 points, four assists and four rebounds. Mark Vital nearly doubled up for the Bears on 10 points and nine rebounds, while King McClure hauled in 10 boards.
Over on the Oklahoma State side, they’re sitting at 8-8 this year. Following consecutive losses to Iowa State and Oklahoma, the Cowboys have won their last pair versus Texas and West Virginia.
In the win over the Mountaineers, OK State’s Isaac Likekele was the team’s top scorer on 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Cameron McGriff put up a double-double in that one with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
The Bears are 6-0 ATS in their last six games after a straight-up loss and 6-1 ATS in their last seven following an ATS loss. Baylor is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 2-5 ATS in the last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus the Big 12 and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall. OK State is also 1-6 ATS in the last seven home games and 1-4 ATS in the last five following a straight-up win.
Baylor has shown flashes of being relevant in the national conversation this year, but the Bears are still prone to sour offensive outings and permissive defense in spots, which gets them into trouble.
As for Oklahoma State, they’ve been somewhat tepid in matchups against some of the better teams in the country (Houston, Iowa State, Oklahoma, etc.) but for the most part they’re a well-rounded squad that can surprise here and there.
All things considered however, I trust Baylor a little more on the cover right now.
