The West Virginia Mountaineers and the Oklahoma State Cowboys meet in Big 12 college basketball action from the Gallagher-Iba Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The West Virginia Mountaineers will look to finish the season strong after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games following a 90-75 win over Iowa State in their last outing. Jermaine Haley led the Mountaineers with 28 points on 13 of 20 shooting with a pair of threes, 7 rebounds and 3 steals while Jordan McCabe came 2nd with 18 points including 5 threes and a team-high 5 assists. Derek Culver added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double while Lamont West chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double of his own to round out the scoring in double figures for the Mountaineers in the winning effort. West leads West Virginia with an average of 10.4 points and 4 rebounds per game while Haley leads the Mountaineers in assists with 2.3 assists per game this season. As a team, West Virginia is averaging 72.8 points per game on 41.4% shooting from the field, 31.2% from behind the arc and 68.1% from the foul line this season.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will look to build on a 67-64 win over Baylor in their last outing as 9-point underdogs last time out. Isaac Likekele led the Cowboys with 23 points on 10 of 15 shooting with team-highs of 9 rebounds and 6 assists while Yor Anei added 14 points with 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. Thomas Dziagwa added 11 points with 8 rebounds to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Oklahoma State in the win while Lindy Waters III had 9 points and Cameron McGriff added 5 points with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. McGriff leads Oklahoma State with an average of 12.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while Likekele leads the Cowboys in assists with 3.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Oklahoma State is averaging 67.4 points per game on 42% shooting from the field, 37.3% from behind the arc and 68.6% from the foul line this season.

West Virginia is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Oklahoma State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. West Virginia is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at Oklahoma State.

Taking the points with West Virginia is tempting considering how much success the Mountaineers have had over the years in this matchup, both overall and at the Gallagher-Iba Arena. However, Oklahoma State has been impressive for the most part in their last couple of games, hanging around with Kansas before pulling off the win against Baylor. There also isn’t a senior on the Cowboys’ roster, so Oklahoma State won’t have to deal with the distraction of a typical Seniors’ night game. I think this is a game that OK State can use to build some momentum heading into the conference tournament, so I’ll lay the points with Oklahoma State here.
