Old Dominion Monarchs -6.5 O/U: 127.5
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the Old Dominion Monarchs will meet up on the college basketball circuit Wednesday.
Southern Miss enters this one at 17-11 on the year. The Eagles had a six-game win streak going last month, but since then they’ve lost their last two outings versus UAB and Western Kentucky.
In the loss to the Hilltoppers, Southern Miss’ Tyree Griffin led the team on 21 points with nine assists. LaDavius Draine finished that one with 16 points for the Eagles, and Dominic Magee chipped in 12 points with eight rebounds.
Over on the Old Dominion side, they’re 23-6 this season. The Monarchs are riding a seven-game win streak versus North Texas, Rice, UAB, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, Western Kentucky and UTSA.
In the win over the Roadrunners, Old Dominion’s BJ Stith topped the team on 16 points with 12 rebounds. Ahmad Caver also doubled up on 13 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds for the Monarchs in that one, and Xavier Green provided 14 points.
The Eagles are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall and the over is 4-0 in their last four road games. Southern Miss is 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight versus CUSA and the over is 6-1 in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Monarchs are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 Wednesday games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 overall. Old Dominion is 5-13 ATS in their last 18 versus CUSA and 2-7 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up win.
There were a couple of close calls in Southern Miss’ six-game win streak, and in the two they’ve lost since, the final score has been decided by five points or fewer.
Old Dominion won a pretty decisive game 76-62 the last time these teams met up though, so they’ve probably got the upper hand here. Still, Southern Miss has been competitive for quite a while so I’m sticking with the Eagles on the cover.
