Ole Miss Rebels -2
The Oklahoma Sooners and the Ole Miss Rebels will meet up on the college basketball court in the NCAA Tournament First Round on Friday.
Mississippi comes into this one with a 20-12 mark overall. The Rebels managed a 73-68 road win over Missouri on March 9, but dropped in the SEC Tournament opening round to Alabama on Thursday.
In the loss to the Tide, Mississippi’s Devontae Shuler led the charge on 14 points with seven rebounds and three assists. The only other Ole Miss player in double-figures there was Bruce Stevens with 12 points.
Over on the Oklahoma side, they’re 19-13 so far overall. The Sooners dropped to Kansas State on March 9, then fell in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament 72-71 to West Virginia last Wednesday.
In the loss to the Mountaineers, Oklahoma forward Brady Manek topped the team on 22 points with four rebounds. Kristian Doolittle added 18 points and nine rebounds with three assists for the Sooners in that game as well.
The Sooners are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five Friday games and 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 non-conference games. Oklahoma is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 neutral-site games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 NCAA Tournament games.
Meanwhile, the Rebels are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games and 19-7-2 ATS in their last 28 Friday games. Ole Miss is 24-9 ATS in their last 33 overall and the over is 4-0 in their last four versus the Big 12.
Ole Miss had a 38-24 lead on Alabama at halftime in their last game, but blew it in epic fashion in the second half with a 38-19 deficit the rest of the way en route to the 62-57 loss. The Rebels had been on a nice scoring run prior to that, reaching at least 71 points in five straight games.
The Rebels do give up a lot of points normally, and the Sooners offense should be able to take advantage of that. This one should be a close game and a fun one to watch, and I think the stage is set for Oklahoma to eke into a cover or possibly win.
