Oral Roberts vs. Western Illinois - 01/05/2019 NCAA BB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The Western Illinois Leathernecks and the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.

Western Illinois enters this game with a 6-9 record overall. After a four-game losing streak, the Leathernecks are 2-1 in their last three, falling to SD State while beating Chicago State and Denver.

In the win over Denver, Western Illinois’ lead scorer was Kobe Webster with 22 points, four assists and two rebounds. Ben Pyle added 15 points for the Leathernecks in that one, and Jordan Hughes doubled up with 11 points and 11 boards.

Over on the Oral Roberts side, they’re 6-11 this season. Following consecutive losses to Wichita State and Tulsa, the Golden Eagles have beaten Omaha and North Dakota in their last two.

In the win versus the Hawks, Oral Roberts’ top man was Emmanuel Nzekwesi with 34 points, six rebounds and one assist. Kevin Obanor also had a nice outing for the Eagles on 23 points and eight rebounds.

The Leathernecks are 15-34-2 ATS in their last 51 Saturday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. Western Illinois is 7-19-2 ATS in their last 28 following an ATS win and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Summit and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall. Oral Roberts is 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven Saturday games.

One credit you can give to the Leathernecks is that they’ve been tighter on defense over their last three games—that is if you take out the 100 points they coughed up to San Diego State in that 42-point loss.

Oral Roberts has put up some real stinkers this year as well, but they seem to be more consistent than the Leathernecks lately (which really isn’t saying much). I’m going with the Eagles here.

Pick:
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles -2.5
