UC Riverside Highlanders (0-0) at Oregon State Beavers (0-0)
|Date & Time||Tuesday November 6, 2018, 9:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Oregon State Beavers -18.5 -- Over/Under: 138.5
The UC Riverside Highlanders and Oregon State Beavers meet Tuesday in college basketball action at the Gill Coliseum.
The UC Riverside Highlanders are coming off a nine-win season that ended in the Big West Tournament quarterfinal. The good news for the Highlanders is that they get their best player back in Dikymbe Martin, a junior guard who averaged 13.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season on 42 percent shooting. DJ Sylvester is back after averaging 7.8 points and 2.9 rebounds and Menno Dijkstra played almost 15 minutes per game. The UC Riverside Highlanders have enough returning production from last season to the point they should be able to top last years win total. The UC Riverside Highlanders have lost four of their last six road games.
The Oregon State Beavers are coming off a 16-16 season that ended in the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals. Oregon State should be able to build on their success considering Tres Tinkle and Stephen Thompson Jr. are both back, a tandem that averaged 33.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and seven assists. Ethan Thompson averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 assists and Alfred Hollins played almost 14 minutes per game. The Oregon State Beavers are still a young basketball team when you breakdown the entire roster, but there’s more than enough returning top production that makes this a sneaky team in the Pac-12. Oregon State will be an intriguing team to watch that’s capable of making things interesting out west. The Oregon State Beavers have won five of their last seven home games.
The Highlanders are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 non-conference games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Beavers are 6-18 ATS in their last 24 non-conference games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Tuesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 7-3 in Beavers last 10 home games and the under is 6-2-1 in Highlanders last 9 overall.
The UC Riverside Highlanders did little to nothing last season that suggests they're capable of going on the road and hanging around with a pretty solid Oregon State squad. The Oregon State Beavers showed flashes last season and now bring back much of their core. This has the potential to be one of the better seasons we've seen from the Beavers in quite some time. I'll take Oregon State in a home blowout.
