Portland State Vikings (0-0) at Oregon Ducks (0-0)
|Date & Time||Tuesday November 6, 2018, 11:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Oregon Ducks -20 -- Over/Under: 156.5
The Portland State Vikings and Oregon Ducks meet Tuesday in college basketball action at the Matthew Knight Arena.
The Portland State Vikings are coming off a 20-win season that ended in the second round of the CIT. Portland State will be without its top-two players from last season, but Holland Woods was a double-digit scorer while chipping in 5.6 assists. Michael Mayhew averaged 8.1 points and 2.5 rebounds while Deante Strickland averaged 7.7 points and 2.6 assists. The Portland State Vikings have enough returning pieces to where they shouldn’t completely fall out of the Big Sky conversation, but replacing Deontae North and Bryce Canda won’t be an easy task and is one that makes the Vikings repeating what they did last season extremely difficult. The Portland State Vikings have won five of their last eight road games.
The Oregon Ducks won 23 games last season that ended in the second round of the NIT. Oregon did lose a lot of depth from last season, but the Ducks do return their top player in Payton Pritchard, who averaged 14.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists on 44.7 percent shooting. Paul White was a near double-digit scorer who shot 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and Victor Bailey Jr. played over 16 minutes per game. The Oregon Ducks also have a loaded recruiting class with Bol Bol, Francis Okoro and Louis King coming in as highly recruited players. The Oregon Ducks are once again a true contender in what has become a competitive Pac-12 this season. The Oregon Ducks have won seven straight home games.
The Vikings are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Tuesday games, 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 non-conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Ducks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 8-3 in Ducks last 11 home games and the under is 5-1 in Vikings last 6 overall.
The Oregon Ducks should be a scoring machine with all the talent they have both returning and coming in. The Portland State Vikings won't be as good as they were last season, but they have some guys who can create their own shot and get going offensively. This could be a high scoring game, even if the Oregon Ducks do a lot of the heavy lifting. Give me the over, as it's also another way to avoid the steep spread in a season opener.
