The Line: Penn State Nittany Lions -1 -- Over/Under:
Out at Bryce Jordan Center on Thursday, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions will be meeting up on the college basketball court.
Ohio State comes into this one with a 22-5 record overall. The Buckeyes have won their last four games, taking out Iowa on Saturday in their last outing. In that one, Ohio State’s top scorer was Kaleb Wesson with 18 points.
Tops on the year in scoring for the Buckeyes is Keita Bates-Diop with 19.9 PPG and 9.0 RPG. Also in double-figures for Ohio State are Jae’Sean Tate (12.7 PPG), CJ Jackson (12.5 PPG) and Wesson (11.1 PPG).
Penn State is sitting at 18-9 this season so far. The Nittany Lions have won their last three straight games, and took out Illinois on Sunday. In that win, Penn State guard Shep Garner logged 16 points to lead the team.
Heading up the scoring this year for Penn State is Tony Carr (19.2 PPG), followed by Lamar Stevens (15.5 PPG). Also in double-figures for the Nittany Lions are Mike Watkins (12.9 PPG; 9.5 RPG), Josh Reaves (10.8 PPG) and Garner (10.2 PPG).
Ohio State is 5-0 ATS in their last five road games and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 versus the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are also 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS win and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six versus the Big Ten. Penn State is also 6-0 ATS in their last six home games versus a team with a winning road record and the under is 11-4 in their last 15 home games.
Ohio State has been on a tear lately, and they’ve lost just one game since Christmas. The bad news is that Penn State was that one team who beat them, taking an 82-79 decision on January 25 at Ohio State. The Buckeyes will be keyed up for some revenge, but the Lions won’t go away quietly either. I’m taking Penn State to cover in a fun game.
