The Pepperdine Waves host the Santa Clara Broncos in WCC college basketball on Thursday.
The Santa Clara Broncos are gunning for consecutive wins after upending Portland 69-63 in overtime as an eight point home favorite.
This was close from start to finish with Santa Clara managing a slight 37.5%-35.3% shooting edge with 16 more makes at the stripe negating 12 more Pilots shots.
Keshawn Justice led the balanced Broncos attack with 17 points and six boards followed by Trey Wertz with 15 points.
Guglielmo gave Santa Clara 12 points and nine rebounds while Josip Vrankic and Tahj Eaddy netted ten points each with Vrankic grabbing nine boards.
The Pepperdine Waves were denied a third consecutive victory in a 66-59 defeat at Pacific as a two point underdog on Saturday.
Pepperdine led by four points at the Intermission but were outscored 34-23 over the final 20 minutes with the offense limited to 37.5% from the floor.
Kameron Edwards kept the Waves competitive with 16 points and six rebounds with Colbey Ross contributing eleven points.
Eric Cooper Jr. gave Pepperdine nine points and four pulls followed by Kessler Edwards and Jade’ Smith with a combined 16 points and nine rebounds.
