The Boston College Eagles improved to 15-10 (5-7 ACC) on the season after defeating the 25th ranked Miami Hurricanes, 72-70, this past Saturday. Boston College was outstanding down the stretch in this one and was able to pull out the victory after finishing the last 6:17 of regulation on a 9-0 run. Boston College shot 50.0% from the field and 78.9% (15-19) from the FT-line in the win. Leading the way for the Eagles was Ky Bowman who had double-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. On the season, Boston College is averaging 75.9 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Eagles are averaging 8.9 three-pointers per game on 37.4% shooting from the field. Offensviely, Boston College has been led by Jerome Robinson (20.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.0 spg), Ky Bowman (16.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.2 spg), Jordan Chatman (12.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.5 apg), and Steffon Mitchell (6.8 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.2 bpg). Defensively, Boston College is allowing their opponents to average 72.8 ppg on 42.9% shooting from the field. The Eagles have a rebound margin of 2.1 and a turnover margin of -0.9.
The Pittsburgh Panthers lost their 13th straight game and dropped to 8-18 (0-13 ACC) on the season after being defeated by the Louisville Cardinals, 94-60, this past Sunday. Pittsburgh was dominated on both ends of the court in this one and had no chance fighting back after falling behind by a 46-20 margin at halftime. Pittsburgh shot just 34.5% from the field and 23.3% (7-30) from beyond the arc while allowed Louisville to shoot 53.0% from the field. Leading the way for the Panthers was Shamiel Stevenson who had 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. On the season, Pittsburgh is averaging 63.1 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field. The Panthers are averaging 7.8 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensviely, Pittsburgh has been led by Jared Wilson-Frame (12.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.4 apg), Marcus Carr (10.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.2 apg), Shamiel Stevenson (8.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.1 apg), and Parker Stewart (8.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg). Defensively, Pittsburgh is allowing their opponents to average 71.4 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Panthers have a rebound margin of -4.8 and a turnover margin of -3.6.
The Eagles are just 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games. The Panthers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a ATS loss and just 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.
It’s been a nightmare of season for the Pittsburgh this season as the Panthers haven’t been able to do anything on the offensive end and come into this game ranked just 345th in scoring offense, 320th in FG%, and 307th in 3P-FG%. Boston College has lost 4 of their last 6 games but is coming off an impressive home win against Miami and has a great duo in Jerome Robinson and Ky Bowman who have the Eagles offense ranked T-119th in scoring offense, 75th in 3P-FG%, and 73rd in FT%. Pittsburgh has lost only one game by less than double-digits during ACC play this season and as I think the Eagles have plenty of offense to score on the Panthers, I’m taking Boston College to cover this mid-range road spread.
