Pittsburgh Panthers +4.5 -- Over/Under: 142.5
The 13th ranked Florida State Seminoles will travel to the Petersen Events Center to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers this Monday night in College Basketball action.
The 13th ranked Florida State Seminoles dropped to 13-3 (1-2 ACC) on the season after being defeated by the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils, 80-78, this past Saturday. Florida State gave Duke all they could handle on their home court, however, lost in heart-breaking fashion after Duke’s Cam Reddish hit a game-winning three-pointers as time expired. Florida State allowed Duke to shoot 46.2% from the field & 45.8% shooing from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Seminoles was Mfiondu Kabengele who had a double-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.
On the season, Florida State is averaging 78.4 ppg on 45.7% shooting from the field. The Seminoles are averaging 7.1 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Florida State has been led by Mfiondu Kabengele (12.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.1 bpg), Terance Mann (11.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.0 apg), Phil Cofer (9.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.0 apg), and Trent Forrest (9.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.5 apg, 2.2 spg).
Defensively, Florida State is allowing their opponents to average 68.5 ppg on 42.3% shooting from the field. The Seminoles have a rebound margin of 5.4 and a turnover margin of 1.6.
The Pittsburgh Panthers dropped to 11-5 (1-2 ACC) on the season after being defeated by the 15th ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack, 86-80, this past Saturday. Pittsburgh gave the Wolfpack all they could handle on their homecourt, however, couldn’t fight back for the upset victory after North Carolina State took a 73-65 lead with 2:57 left in regulation. Pittsburgh shot 45.5% from the field, however, was outrebound by North Carolina State by a 44-34 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Panthers was Xavier Johnson who had 25 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists.
On the season, Pittsburgh is averaging 77.2 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Panthers are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Pittsburgh has been led by Xavier Johnson (17.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Trey McGowens (13.4 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.3 spg), Jared Wilson-Frame (11.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.8 apg), and Au’Diese Toney (10.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg).
Defensively, Pittsburgh is holding their opponents to an average of 66.6 ppg on 38.7% shooting from the field. The Panthers have a rebound margin of 0.8 and a turnover margin of 2.7.
The Seminoles are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, however, 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Panthers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Florida State has won 8 of their last 10 games and comes into this game ranked 75th in scoring offense, 104th in scoring defense, and 47th in rebound margin. Pittsburgh has won 4 of their last 6 games and has also been solid on both sides of the ball as they rank 98th in scoring offense & 67th in scoring defense.
Jeff Capel has already surpassed expectations in his first season with the Panthers, however, I wouldn’t want to face this Florida State team coming off such a heart-breaking loss at home. Florida State has as much talent as any team in the country and as I think their defense is going to give the Panthers some trouble in this one, I’m taking the Seminoles to cover on the road. Good Luck!
