Pittsburgh Panthers +2.5 O/U: 147
The North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Pittsburgh Panthers will meet up on the college basketball court Saturday.
NC State enters this one on a 16-7 mark overall. The Wolfpack have had a tough stretch of games lately, and in their last five they’ve lost to Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech and UNC.
In the loss to the Tar Heels, NC State’s Braxton Beverly led the way on 17 points with two assists. CJ Bryce added 15 points for the Wolfpack there, and Derek Funderburk posted 14 points with five boards.
Over on the Pittsburgh side, they’re 12-11 this year. The Panthers are currently on a six-game losing streak, dropping to Syracuse, Duke, Louisville, Clemson, Syracuse again and Wake Forest in that stretch.
In the OT loss to the Deacons, Pittsburgh’s lead scorer was Xavier Johnson on 23 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Jared Wilson-Frame added 17 points for the Panthers in that one, and Sidy Ndir had 15 points.
NC State is 11-23 ATS in their last 34 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games. The Wolfpack are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the ACC.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Pitt is 0-6 ATS in their last six overall and 0-6 ATS in their last six versus the ACC.
NC State was overmatched fairly early against the Tar Heels in their last game, falling behind 56-40 at the break. It was still a much better effort than the historically embarrassing 24 points the Wolfpack managed against Virginia Tech, but then again pretty much anything would have been.
This will be a good opportunity for NC State to bounce back and return to the win column, as the Panthers have been pretty sketchy on the scoreboard lately. I like the Wolfpack to pull themselves together here and cover. Neither team is very good ATS lately, though.
