WCC college basketball gives us a Thursday matchup between the Portland Pilots and the Pepperdine Waves.

The Pepperdine Waves ended a two game skid with an 84-77 OT victory against Saint Mary’s on Saturday as an eight point home dog on Saturday.

This was close throughout with both teams sinking shots in the 48%-49% range with Pepperdine offsetting 18 more Gaels shots with a 23-10 edge at the stripe.

Colbey Ross exploded for 29 points, three yanks and nine helpers with Kameron Edwards giving the Waves 24 points and eight rebounds.

Pepperdine received eleven points and six boards from Eric Cooper Jr. followed by Jade’ Smith with seven points and nine rebounds. The Portland Pilots fell to 0-7 in the West Coast following  74-70 defeat at Pacific as a 9.5 point underdog on Saturday.

Both teams connected at around 41.2% from the floor with Portland coming up short at the charity stripe 27-21 and on the glass 40-25.

Marcus Shaver Jr. led the Pilots offense  leading all  scorers with 30 points and five pulls while Jojo Walker tossed in 12 points.

Josh McSwiggan and Franklin Porter gave Portland eight and six points followed by Hugh Hogland with a five point, four board effort.

Pepperdine Waves are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 vs. West Coast and  are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall. Portland Pilots are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games overall andare 2-8 ATS in their last 10 vs. West Coast. Under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings and home team is 16-4-2 ATS in the last 22 meetings.

Portland hasn’t been winning or coming close but I still hate laying points with Pepperdine…

Pepperdine -5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
