The Georgetown Hoyas will travel to the Dunkin Donuts Center to take on the Providence Friars this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Georgetown Hoyas lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 13-9 (3-8 Big East) on the season after being defeated by the 6th ranked Xavier Musketeers, 96-91 in OT, this past Saturday. In a tight back and for game, Georgetown allowed Xavier to force overtime after holding an 86-82 lead with 0:36 seconds left in regulation and couldn’t pull out the victory after struggling offensively in the overtime period. Georgetown shot 44.6% from the field and 34.4% (11-32) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Hoyas was Jessie Govan who had 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. On the season, Georgetown is averaging 78.6 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Hoyas are averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game on 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Georgetown has been led by Jessie Govan (16.5 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.2 bpg), Marcus Derrickson (15.8 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.6 apg), Jahvon Blair (9.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.7 apg), and Jamorko Pickett (9.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg). Defensively, Georgetown is allowing their opponents to average 73.6 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Hoyas have a rebound margin 6.2 and a turnover margin of -2.5.

The Providence Friars snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 15-8 (6-4 Big East) on the season after defeating the Marquette Golden Flashes, 77-75, this past Saturday. Providence did an excellent job containing the dangerous Marquette backcourt and held on late after taking a 68-57 lead with 4:53 left in regulation. Providence shot 44.4% from the field and outrebounded Marquette by a 33-28 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Friars was Kyron Cartwright who had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. On the season, Providence is averaging 75.7 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field. The Friars are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 36.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Providence has been led by Rodney Bullock (15.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.0 bpg), Alpha Diallo (12.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Kyron Cartwright (11.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.2 spg). Defensively, Providence is allowing their opponents to average 72.5 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Friars have a rebound of 0.9 and a turnover margin of 0.7.

The Hoyas are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Friars are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall however, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Tuesday games.

Georgetown has lost 5 of their last 6 games, however, the Hoyas have played better as of late as Georgetown was extremely competitive on the road in their recent losses against Creighton and Xavier. Georgetown has been led by their offense which ranks 70th in scoring offense, 27th in rebound margin, and 14th in assists per game. Providence has won 5 of their last 7 games and have been solid on both ends of the court that rank 126th in scoring offense and 179th in scoring defense. Georgetown has played well as of late, however, Providence has an impressive 10-2 record at home and as Providence won the last 6 matchups against the Hoyas, I’m taking the Friars to cover this spread.

Pick:
Providence Friars -8
