The Providence Friars host the Rhode Island Rams in Saturday college basketball action.
The Rhode Island Rams are gunning for consecutive victories after defeating Brown 71-51 on Wednesday as an eight point favorite. Rhode Island was up ten at the half and continued to expand the lead behind a 26.6%-29.8% shooting edge and 14 more looks at the basket.
Cyril Langevine was dominant for the Rams with game highs of 19 points and 17 rebounds on 8-15 accuracy while Jermaine Harris added 15 points and five pulls on 6-6 marksmanship. Rhode Island received eleven points and three yanks from Jeff Dowtin followed by nine points and five steals from Christian Thompson.
The Providence Friars have won back to back games after downing Fairleigh Dickinson 69-59 on Tuesday. Providence held Fairleigh Dickinson to only 19 first half points before trading baskets over the final 20 minutes. The Friars sank half their looks and limited the Knights to 43.4% shooting while holding a 14-4 advantage at the charity stripe.
Providence received a game high 20 points and nine rebounds from Alpha Diallo on 8-14 from the field while Isaiah Jackson added eleven points, five boards and four helpers on 3-5 shooting and 4-6 at the line. Drew Edwards gave the Friars ten points on 3-6 from the floor with AJ Reeves chipping in with seven points.
