Providence Friars +1 O/U: 143
The St. John’s Red Storm and the Providence Friars will meet up on the college basketball circuit Wednesday.
St. John’s is currently 19-7 this season. The Red Storm have won three of their last four games, toppling Marquette, Butler and Villanova during that time (with a loss to Providence in there too).
In the win over the Wildcats, St. John’s top scorer was LJ Figueroa, who doubled up on 22 points with 12 rebounds and two assists. Mustapha Heron added 19 points and five rebounds for the Red Storm in that game as well.
Over on the Providence side, they’re 14-12 this year. The Friars have lost five of their last six games, dropping to Seton Hall, DePaul, Georgetown, Villanova and Xavier in that stretch.
In the loss to the Musketeers, Providence’s only scorer in double-digits was Nate Watson with 16 points and four rebounds. Drew Edwards was the next closest rear with eight points, and Kalif Young had seven rebounds.
The Storm are 5-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Big East. St. John’s is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win and the under is 5-1 in the last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Friars are 4-10 ATS in the last 14 Wednesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Providence is 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the Big East and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.
The last time these teams met wasn’t that long ago, and Providence secured a pretty convincing 70-56 win there. Outside of that, the Red Storm have knocked out two top 10 teams in their last four games, so they’re probably itching for some payback.
I’d tend to agree with the line here; it should be a close game, and in the end I think St. John’s will take it. I’m going Red Storm.
