The Line: Quinnipiac Bobcats +1.5 -- Over/Under: 135
We have some MAAC-tion on the hardwood Thursday night when the Manhattan Jaspers take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats in a college basketball matchup.
The Manhattan Jaspers will look to find some consistent play after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games, including a 93-76 win over Monmouth in their last outing. Zane Waterman led Manhattan in scoring with 28 points on 7 of 15 shooting with 4 triples along with a 10 of 13 mark from the foul line. Zavier Turner came 2nd with 25 points on 4 of 6 from behind the arc with a 13 of 14 mark from the charity stripe along with a team-high 5 assists. Rich Williams added 11 points while Pauly Paulicap chipped in 10 points with a team-high 13 rebounds and 5 blocks to round out the quartet of double digit scorers for the Jaspers in the win. Williams leads Manhattan in scoring with 12.9 points per game while Waterman leads the Jaspers in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game and Turner leads the way for Manhattan in assists with 3.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Manhattan is scoring 68 points per game on 44.1% from the field, 39.3% from behind the arc and 69.2% from the foul line this season.
The Quinnipiac Bobcats could use a win here to snap a 4 game losing streak following a 71-64 loss to Canisius in their last outing. Cameron Young led the Bobcats with 16 points on 6 of 13 shooting with 3 triples along with a team-high 8 rebounds and 5 assists, while Chaise Daniels added 12 points on 6 of 8 shooting as the only other Bobcat to score in double figures in the losing effort for Quinnipiac. Young leads the Bobcats with an average of 18.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while Rich Kelly leads Quinnipiac in assists with 5 assists per game this season. As a team, Quinnipiac is scoring 71.7 points per game on 42% shooting from the field, 33.7% from behind the 3-point line and 70.9% from the foul line this season.
Manhattan is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 18-6-2 in their last 26 games overall. Quinnipiac is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the over is 19-8 in their last 27 games following a loss. The favorite is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
Manhattan hasn’t been the best at consistently stringing wins together lately, but the one thing Quinnipiac has been consistent at over the last couple of weeks is losing. And with the line being as low as it is, if you’re taking the points with Quinnipiac, you’re basically taking the Bobcats to win straight up, and I just don’t see it happening, Manhattan is the better and deeper team here that’s in much better form, so I’ll lay the bucket with the Jaspers on the road here.
