The Dayton Flyers and the Rhode Island Rams meet in A-10 conference college basketball action from the Thomas M. Ryan Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Dayton Flyers will look to rebound after a 73-60 loss to Saint Louis in their last outing. Josh Cunningham led the Flyers with 12 points on 5 of 11 shooting with a team-high 7 rebounds while Jalen Crutcher and Obi Toppin each had 11 points and a team-high 3 assists to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for the Flyers in the loss. Ryan Mikesell added 9 points and 6 rebounds as well in the losing effort. Cunningham leads Dayton in scoring with 14.1 points per game while Crutcher leads the Flyers in assists with 5.7 assists per game and Trey Landers leads Dayton in rebounding with 7.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Dayton is averaging 73.9 points per game on 49.8% shooting from the field, the 6th-best field goal percentage in the country, along with a 32.1% mark from behind the 3-point line and 68.1% from the foul line this season.

The Rhode Island Rams could use a win after losing 3 of their last 4 games following a 68-53 loss to Davidson in their last outing. Cyril Langevine led the Rams with 16 points on 7 of 13 shooting with a team-high 14 rebounds for the double-double while Jeff Dowtin added 13 points with 3 threes as the only other Rhode Island player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Fatts Russell dished out a team-high 3 assists while Dana Tate had 8 points and 9 rebounds in the defeat. Dowtin leads the Rams with 16 points and 3.8 assists per game while Langevine leads the Rams on the glass with 9.9 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Rhode Island is averaging 70 points per game on 42.8% shooting from the field, 26.3% from behind the 3-point line and 66.9% from the foul line this season.

Dayton is 4-13 ATS in their last 17 road games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference games. Rhode Island is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games against a team with a losing road record and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 home games. Dayton is 4-9-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings between these two teams and 1-4-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams at Rhode Island.

I can imagine that Dayton wants to get the bad taste out of their mouths from the loss to Saint Louis as that was a winnable game for the Flyers that Dayton let slip away. Rhode Island hasn’t been the most trustworthy team, but the Rams usually play well at home and have won the last two meetings with Dayton by a combined 39 points. I’ll lay the bucket with the Rams in this one.
