The Nebraska Omaha Mavericks take the hardwood at the Rice Owls in Friday college basketball action.

The Nebraska Omaha Mavericks improved to 5-7 with an 85-74 upset of visiting Santa Barbara on Wednesday as a point home dog. Nebraska Omaha took a 13 point lead in to the intermission and traded baskets over the final 20 minutes with a 55%-41% edge in marksmanship securing the win.

Zach Jackson carried the Mavericks with 22 points on 9-13 accuracy while Matt Pile added 13 points, eleven rebounds and five assists on 5-11 from the floor and 3-4 at the stripe. Nebraska Omaha received eleven points from Mitchell Hahn and KJ Robinson followed by JT Gibson and Brett Barney with nine points apiece.

The Rice Owls are shooting for consecutive victories after upending Texas Rio Grande Valley 75-67 as a 6.5 point road underdog on Tuesday. Rice connected at 45.1% and gave the ball away 17 times to give the 38.2% shooting Vaqueros 17 more shots which made the Owls 21-9 advantage at the stripe decisive.

Chris Mullins carried the Rice attack with a game high 22 points and four helpers on 7-14 accuracy and 6-8 at the line. The Owls received 12 points each and a combined 18 rebounds from Quentin Millora-Brown and Drew Peterson followed by Trey Murphy III with 13 points and three pulls on 5-9 shooting.
