The Iona Gaels and the Rider Broncs will match up on the college basketball circuit Friday.

Iona comes into this matchup at 13-15 overall. The Gaels are riding a six-game win streak right now, taking out Niagara, Siena, Saint Peter’s, Quinnipiac, Manhattan and Canisius in that stretch.

In the win over the Griffins, Iona’s lead scorer was Rickey McGill on 30 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Tajuan Agee added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Gaels there and EJ Crawford chipped in 18 points.

Over on the Rider side, they’re 15-13 this year. The Broncs have won their last three straight games, with victories over Monmouth, Saint Peter’s and Niagara during that span of outings.

In the win over the Eagles, Rider guard Stevie Jordan led the team on 21 points with six assists and two rebounds. Tyere Marshall would add 14 points for the Broncs there and Anthony Durham logged 13 points.

The Gaels are 5-0 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. Iona is 5-0 ATS in their last five versus the MAA and 4-1 ATS in their last five Friday games.

Meanwhile, the Broncs are 8-21-1 ATS in their last 30 overall and 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games. Rider is 2-9-1 ATS in the last 12 versus the MAA and 1-7-1 ATS in the last nine after an ATS win.

The last time these teams met up, Iona secured a 77-71 victory in a game they led 41-29 at the half. The Gaels have had a few scoring duds over this six-game win streak, so it’s a genuine concern that Rider could give them some trouble.

All things considered I like the run Rider is on so I’m going to stick with the Broncs on the home cover in what should be a competitive game.
