NCAA BB | Siena Saints (8-19) at Rider Broncs (19-7)

Out at Rider University Alumni Gym on Thursday, the Siena Saints will be visiting the Rider Broncs in college basketball activity.

Siena enters this one with an 8-19 record overall. The Saints had lost three straight games, but got a win versus Iona on Monday. In that one, Siena guard Khalil Richard managed 22 points to lead the team.

Nico Clareth is still the top scorer for Siena this season on 15.1 PPG, but he’s no longer with the program and will be transferring out next year. That leaves Roman Penn (9.7 PPG) and Prince Oruro (9.1 PPG) as the leading Saints players.

Over on the Rider side, they’re sitting at 19-7 this season. the Broncs have won their last eight games, taking out Marist in their last outing. In that victory, Rider guard Dimencio Vaughn managed 28 points.

Vaughn is the leading scorer for Rider this year with 15.3 PPG and 6.5 RPG. Also in the Broncs’ double-digit club are Jordan Allen (13.5 PPG), Frederick Scott (13.5 PPG), Stevie Jordan (13.1 PPG) and Tyere Marshall (10.1 PPG).

Siena is 2-5 ATS in their last seven following a straight-up win and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Thursday games. The Saints are also 2-7 ATS in their last nine overall and 0-5 ATS in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, the Broncs are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 versus the Metro Atlantic. Rider is also 2-5 ATS in their last seven Thursday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five following an ATS win.

Siena’s 82-point outburst versus Iona was kind of surprising, considering the fact that the Saints hadn’t scored more than 65 points in any of their previous five games. Rider, meanwhile, seems to have hit their proverbial stride—even though they’re prone to coughing up a lot of points from time to time. In any case, I think Rider holds all the cards here.
