The Line: Saint Louis Billikens -4.5 -- Over/Under:
Over at Chaifetz Arena on Saturday, the La Salle Explorers and the Saint Louis Billikens will be meeting up on the college basketball court.
La Salle enters this one with a 10-14 record. The Explorers have lost two of their last three games, falling to George Washington in their last outing. In that one, La Salle guard Pookie Powell managed 16 points and five rebounds.
BJ Johnson is the top scorer for the Explorers this year on 21.0 PPG and 8.1 RPG. Also in double-digits for La Salle are Powell (17.7 PPG; 4.0 APG) and Isiah Deas (10.1 PPG; 4.4 RPG).
As for Saint Louis, they’re currently 13-12 this year. The Billikens had won three games in a row but fell to St. Bonaventure in their last outing. In that one, Saint Louis guard Javon Bess logged 13 points.
Bess is the top scorer for the Billikens this season on 13.2 PPG and 7.1 RPG. Also in the double-digit club for Saint Louis are Davell Roby (11.0 PPG) and Jordan Goodwin (10.9 PPG; 7.4 RPG).
The Explorers are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games overall and 7-22 ATS in their last 29 road games. La Salle is also 5-16 ATS in their last 21 versus the Atlantic 10 and 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Billikens are 5-0 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games. Saint Louis is also 4-1 ATS in the last five Saturday games and 20-6 ATS in their last 26 versus the Atlantic 10.
La Salle has had a couple of scoring lulls lately, putting up 69 or fewer in each of their last two losses. The last time these two teams met was an 83-60 La Salle blowout at home, and I don’t think the Billikens offense can keep it close here. I’ll take La Salle.
