The Pacific Tigers and the Saint Mary’s Gaels meet in college basketball action from McKeon Pavilion on Saturday.
Pacific enters this one at 20-8 this year. The Tigers are on a five-game winning streak right now, beating LMU, San Diego, San Francisco, Pepperdine and Portland in succession.
In the win over the Pilots, Pacific’s Jahlil Trip led the team on 18 points with 12 rebounds. Pierre Crockwell also doubled up there with 10 points and 10 assists, and Broc Finstuen added 13 points for the Tigers.
Over on the Saint Mary’s side, they’re 20-6 on the year. The Gaels are just 1-2 in their last three games, with a win over San Diego sandwiched between losses to BYU and Gonzaga.
In the loss to the Bulldogs, Saint Mary’s guard Jordan Ford led the team on 23 points with five rebounds and two assists. Also in double-digits there was Malik Fitts, with 12 points and one rebound for the Gaels.
The Gaels are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. The over is 4-0 in Saint Mary’s last four Saturday games and 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 17-36 ATS in their last 53 Saturday games and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 after a straight-up win. Pacific is 0-4 ATS in the last four after an ATS win and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall.
Saint Mary’s put up 165 combined points in the Portland and BYU games, but their offense was stalled in the San Diego (66 points) and Gonzaga (60 points, understandably) games. They’ll need to get rolling quickly here, as Pacific can turn the defensive screws when so motivated. Considering the last time these teams met was a 107-99 home win for Pacific, this one could get pretty interesting in a hurry, though. I’m going to go with the Gaels on the cover here, but it should be close.
