The Fairfield Stags and the Saint Peter’s Peacocks meet in college basketball action from Yanitelli Center on Sunday.
Fairfield comes in here at 10-14 so far. The Stags are 2-2 in their last four games, with losses to Siena and Iona sandwiched between wins over Monmouth and Marist in that time.
In the win over the Foxes, Fairfield’s lead scorer was Taj Benning with 15 points and eight rebounds. Also in double-digits there for the Stags was Jesus Cruz with 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Saint Peter’s side, they’re 12-11 this year. Since their latest loss to Marist, the Peacocks have won games over Monmouth 81-69 and Quinnipiac 84-72 in their last pair.
In the win over the Bobcats, Saint Peter’s lead scorers were Doug Edert and Daryl Banks, each with 18 points and a combined two assists with one rebound. Aaron Estrada added 14 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Saint Peter’s is 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine Sunday games and 4-0 ATS in the last four home games. The Peacocks are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 overall and the over is 5-0 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Stags are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win. Fairfield is 1-5 ATS in the last six after an ATS win and the under is 35-16 in their last 51 overall.
Fairfield isn’t a big offensive team this year—they haven’t hit 70 points since way back on November 17. That said, the Stags are still pretty good defensively, and they’ve held opponents to 68 or less in five of their last six.
The last time these teams met up was a 61-51 victory for Fairfield at home. Saint Peter’s has been playing better since then, and I like them to get some revenge here. I’m going Peacocks on the cover.
