Southland college basketball features the Sam Houston State Bearcats taking the floor against the New Orleans Privateers.

The New Orleans Privateers upended the Lamar Cardinals 76-72 on Thursday to punch their ticket to the conference semifinals.

The Privateers saw 17 points and four helpers from Bryson Robinson with Scott Plaisance adding 16 points and a team high seven rebounds.

Jorge Rosa  gave New Orleans another 13 points followed by Troy Green and Damion Rosser with eight and six points wit a combined eight boards.

The Sam Houston State Bearkats captured the Southland title on the strength of wins in four of five to end the year after capped off by a 68-57 victory at Stephen F. Austin.

Josh Delaney was the top threat for the Bearkats with 19 points, three yanks and three assists with Kai Mitchell adding 12 points and nine rebounds.

Sam Houston State received ten points from Marcus Harris followed Zach Nutall who tossed in seven points and snagged five boards.

New Orleans Privateers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Friday games and are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and  are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 vs. Southland and are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games.

Sam Houston State Bearkats are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games following a ATS win and  are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 vs. Southland and are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games overall and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.

Sam Houston State won both matchups comfortably but otherwise the Privateers have been the Bearkats equal. Either New Orleans is a good matchup for SHSU or we see a tough battle and I'm not sure which...
