Samford Bulldogs +5 O/U: 142
The Furman Paladins and the Samford Bulldogs will meet up on the college basketball circuit Thursday.
Furman comes in here at 22-6 on the year. Following a six-game win streak versus the Citadel, Mercer, WCU, ETSU, UNCG and VMI, the Paladins lost their last game versus Wofford.
In the loss to the Terriers, Furman’s Matt Rafferty led the team on 24 points with seven rebounds and two assists. Jordan Lyons added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Paladins there, and Clay Mounce chipped in 12 points with five boards.
Over on the Samford side, they’re 16-13 this year. After consecutive wins over VMI and Chattanooga, the Bulldogs have lost their last two games against Mercer and the Citadel.
In the OT loss to the Citadel, Samford’s lead scorer was Myron Gordon on 23 points. Robert Allen doubled up for the Bulldogs in that one with 13 points and 18 rebounds, as did Ruben Guerrero with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Paladins are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall. Furman is 5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS loss and 22-6 ATS in the last 28 Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up loss and 0-4-1 ATS in the last five home games. The over is 41-14 in Samford’s last 55 versus the Southern and 5-2 in their last seven home games.
Furman played quite well during that winning streak, but didn’t really get all that close to Wofford—who doesn’t lose to anyone these days. Prior to that, the Paladins’ most recent loss came to Samford in a 75-73 home defeat.
This should be another good matchup between two quality squads, but the Paladins have more talent overall and will be keyed up for some revenge here. I’m going Furman.
