San Diego State Aztecs -10 -- Over/Under: 139
The Air Force Falcons will travel to Viejas Arena to take on the San Diego State Aztecs this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.
The Air Force Falcons won their 2nd straight game and improved to 9-11 (4-4 MW) on the season after defeating the San Jose State Spartans, 73-71 in 2OT, this past Saturday. Air Force fought back from a 31-19 halftime deficit to force OT, and was able to secure the victory after a Chris Joyce three-pointer with just :05 seconds left in double-OT gave the Falcons the lead for good. Air Force won despite shooting just 34.1% from the field & 23.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Falcons was Ryan Swan who had a double-double with 12 points, 17 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Air Force is averaging 68.3 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Falcons are averaging 6.9 three-pointers per game on 46.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Air Force has been led by Lavelle Scottie (14.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.5 apg), Ryan Swan (12.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.6 apg), A.J. Walker (8.3 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 2.0 apg), and Chris Joyce (7.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.6 apg).
Defensively, Air Force is allowing their opponents to average 70.6 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field. The Falcons have a rebound margin of 1.1 and a turnover margin of -2.5.
The San Diego State Aztecs improved to 11-8 (3-3 MW) on the season after defeating the UNLV Rebels, 94-77, this past Saturday. San Diego State had their way offensively against the UNLV defense and pulled away in the 2nd half after taking a 75-56 lead with just 8:54 left in regulation. San Diego State shot 56.1% from the field & 54.5% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Aztecs was Jalen McDaniels who had a double-double with 30 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
On the season, San Diego State is averaging 76.3 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Aztecs are averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 37.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, San Diego State has been led by Jalen McDaniels (16.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.3 spg), Devin Watson (15.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.0 spg), Matt Mitchell (11.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.2 apg), and Jeremy Hemsley (9.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.2 spg).
Defensively, San Diego State is allowing their opponents to average 70.5 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Falcons have a rebound margin of 2.1 and a turnover margin of 1.2.
The Falcons are 20-5-1 ATS in their last 26 games following an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Aztecs are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games vs. Mountain West opponents and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Air Force has won 4 of their last 5 games, however, can struggle a bit on the offense end as they rank just 294th in scoring offense, 274th in 3P-FG%, and 246th in FT%. San Diego State has split their last 8 games and although they’re not as strong defensively as we’ve seen in the past as they currently rank just 151st in scoring defense, the Aztecs have a solid offense this season that ranks 110th in scoring offense, 53rd in assists per game, and 103rd in FG%.
Air Force had their way with San Diego State at home earlier this season as the Falcons easily defeated the Aztecs by a 62-48 margin, however, the Falcons are just 1-6 on the road this season and we saw how they can struggle on the road with their near upset loss against a very bad San Jose State team this past Saturday. San Diego State is a solid 9-2 at home this season, including a perfect 3-0 in conference play, and as those home conference wins have been by an average of 22.3 ppg, I’m taking San Diego State to cover this spread.
