San Diego State Aztecs -11.5 -- Over/Under: 144.5
The Wyoming Cowboys and the San Diego State Aztecs meet in Mountain West conference college basketball action from Viejas Arena at the Aztec Bowl on Tuesday night.
The Wyoming Cowboys will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 68-56 loss to UNLV in their last outing. Hunter Thompson led the Cowboys with 17 points on 6 of 13 shooting with 3 threes and 6 rebounds while Justin James added 15 points with 7 rebounds and a team-high 4 assists. Trace Young added 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for Wyoming in the loss, while A.J. Banks added 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and a pair of blocks. James leads Wyoming with an average of 20.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Wyoming is averaging 69.3 points per game on 41.4% shooting from the field, 36% from behind the arc and 74.2% from the foul line this season.
The San Diego State Aztecs come into this game looking to rebound after a disappointing 88-64 loss to Boise State in their last outing. Devin Watson led the Aztecs with 24 points on 7 of 14 shooting with an 8 of 10 mark from the foul line while Jalen McDaniels added 14 points on 6 of 13 shooting with 5 rebounds as the only other Aztec to score in double figures in the loss. Watson leads the Aztecs by averaging 15.9 points and 5.2 assists per game while McDaniels is San Diego State’s leader on the glass with 7.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, San Diego State is averaging 76 points per game on 45% shooting from the field, 38.1% from behind the 3-point line and 72.3% from the foul line this season.
Wyoming is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 conference games. San Diego State is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 home games while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record. Wyoming is 2-6-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings between these two teams at San Diego State.
Anyone who has followed me this season knows I try to fade Wyoming as much as possible because I’ve felt that with the Cowboys, it’s either James or bust for Wyoming’s success. Well, Wyoming is getting scoring depth from their lineup and it’s still not enough. Now the Cowboys find themselves on the road where they’ve been outscored by 12.4 points per game this season, going against a San Diego State team that still plays good defense and is outscoring their opposition by 11.3 points per game this season. San Diego State has been up and down this season, but I think the Aztecs would like to atone for their disappointing performance against Boise State, so I’ll lay the points with the Aztecs here.
