The BYU Cougars and the San Diego Toreros meet in college basketball action from Jenny Craig Pavilion on Saturday.
BYU enters this one at 20-7 this year. The Cougars are on a five-game winning streak, taking out Pepperdine, Saint Mary’s, Portland, San Francisco and LMU in that time.
In the win over the Lions, BYU’s Alex Barcello topped the team on 18 points with four rebounds and three assists. TJ Haws was also in double-digits there with 17 points, three assists and two rebounds.
Over on the San Diego side, they’re 9-18 so far. The Toreros are 1-5 in their last six, beating Portland while falling to Santa Clara, San Francisco, Pacific, Saint Mary’s and Pepperdine otherwise.
In the loss to the Waves, San Diego’s Braun Hartfield led the team on 26 points with four assists and two rebounds. Finn Sullivan was the only other team player in double-digits there with 16 points, four assists and three boards.
The Toreros are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up loss and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games. San Diego is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four overall and the under is 5-1 in their last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Cougars are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 4-1 ATS in the last five overall. The over is 8-3 in BYU’s last 11 overall and 5-0 in their last five Saturday games.
San Diego has had a rough go of things lately; there was a stretch where they didn’t eclipse 60 points for four games. That said, the Toreros have been a little better over their last two, including 88 points against Portland.
As for BYU, they don’t have any issue on offense these days, and they’ve scored at least 74 in seven straight. I can’t find a lot of reasons not to take the Cougars here.
