The 3rd ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs will travel to Jenny Craig Pavilion to take on the San Diego Toreros this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The 3rd ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs won their 15th straight game and improved to 24-2 (11-0 WCC) on the season after defeating the Loyola Marymount Lions, 73-60, this past Thursday. Gonzaga trailed Loyola Marymount by a 54-53 margin midway through the 2nd half, however, was outstanding offensively down the stretch and pulled away after a 9-0 Bulldogs run gave Gonzaga a 69-58 lead with 2:38 left in regulation. Gonzaga shot 46.0% from the field, while holding Loyola Marymount to just 37.9% shooting from the field & 7.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Rui Hachimura who had 22 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block.

On the season, Gonzaga is averaging 90.7 ppg on 52.6% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 8.3 three-pointers per game on 37.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Gonzaga has been led by Rui Hachimura (20.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.0 spg), Brandon Clarke (16.8 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.3 spg, 3.1 bpg), Zach Norvell Jr. (15.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.4 spg), and Josh Perkins (10.3 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 6.7 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, Gonzaga is allowing their opponents to average 65.1 ppg on 38.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 6.5 and a turnover margin of 3.4.

The San Diego Toreros lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 16-10 (5-6 WCC) on the season after being defeated by the BYU Cougars, 88-82 in OT, this past Thursday. San Diego allowed BYU to fight back from a 39-30 halftime deficit to force OT, and couldn’t fight back after the Cougars took an 82-77 lead with 2:35 left in OT. San Diego shot 52.0% from the field, however, lost the turnover battle by a 18-7 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Toreros was Isaiah Pineiro who had a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists.

On the season, San Diego is averaging 73.8 ppg on 47.2% shooting from the field. The Toreros are averaging 7.7 three-pointers per game on 34.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, San Diego has been led by Isaiah Pineiro (19.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.3 spg), Olin Carter III (16.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.0 apg), Isaiah Wright (13.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.4 spg), and Tyler Williams (8.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.2 apg).

Defensively, San Diego is allowing their opponents to average 68.8 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Toreros have a rebound margin of 3.1 and a turnover margin of -1.0.

The Bulldogs are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall and 9-4 ATS in their last 14 games vs. WCC opponents. The Toreros are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning % of greater than .600 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss.

Gonzaga continues to pile up wins in conference play and come into this game ranked 1st in scoring offense, 1st in FG%, and 39th in scoring defense.

San Diego has lost 3 of their last 5 games and come into this game ranked 150th in scoring offense, 50th in FG%, and 111th in scoring defense.

San Diego has had trouble picking up wins as of late, however, this is a very solid Toreros team who comes into this game with an impressive 11-2 record at home. Gonzaga is one of the best teams in College Basketball and has an offense that can put up points in a hurry, however, the Toreros were competitive in a 16-point loss at Gonzaga two weeks ago and as I think they’ll also be able to keep this one competitive, I’m taking San Diego and the points in this one.

Pick:
San Diego Toreros +16
