The San Diego Toreros and the San Francisco Dons meet in WCC college basketball action from the War Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday night.

The San Diego Toreros come into this game looking to rebound after losing 4 of their last 5 games following a 66-46 loss to Saint Mary’s in their last outing. Isaiah Pineiro led the Toreros with 13 points along with 14 rebounds and 3 blocks for the double-double while Olin Carter III had 12 points with 4 threes and 3 steals. Isaiah Wright chipped in 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for San Diego in the losing effort. Yauhen Massalski added 7 points with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks as well in the loss. Pineiro leads the Toreros with an average of 19.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game while Tyler Williams leads San Diego in assists with 3.2 assists per game this season. As a team, San Diego is averaging 72.3 points per game on 46.2% shooting from the field, 34.6% from behind the arc and 73.8% from the foul line this season.

The San Francisco Dons will look to rebound from a 68-65 loss to Santa Clara in their last outing. Frankie Ferrari led the Dons with 17 points on 6 of 14 shooting with 5 threes and a team-high 9 assists while Jimbo Lull had 12 points on 5 of 6 shooting as the only other San Francisco player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Nate Renfro added 9 points with a team-high 7 rebounds with a pair of steals as well in the loss. Ferrari leads the Dons with an average of 14.8 points and 5.6 assists per game while Matt McCarthy leads San Francisco in rebounding with 6.4 rebounds per game this season. As a team, San Francisco is averaging 76 points per game on 47% shooting from the field, 35.6% from behind the 3-point line and 65.3% from the foul line this season.

San Diego is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 games following a loss. San Francisco is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 home games. San Diego is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams at San Francisco.

I agree with San Francisco being favored at home here, however, 4 of the last 5 games have either seen San Diego win outright, or lose by no more than 6 points, and that’s including San Diego’s 4-point win over the Dons just over a month ago. I have no doubt that the Dons would like toe xact some revenge here, but the Toreros just have a history of playing San Francisco tight so in what could end up being another close affair, I like the value of San Diego with the points here.

Pick:
San Diego +6
