The Line: San Jose State Spartans +13 -- Over/Under:
On Wednesday from Event Center Arena, the Fresno State Bulldogs and the San Jose Spartans will be meeting up on the college basketball circuit.
Fresno State is currently sitting at 17-8 on the season. The Bulldogs have won their last two games, and took out San Diego State in their most recent appearance. In that one, Fresno State guard Jaron Hopkins led the way on 20 points.
Heading up the scoring for the Bulldogs this year is Deshon Taylor with 18.6 PPG, and Bryson Williams is second on 13.1 PPG and 5.8 RPG. Also in the double-digit club for Fresno State are Hopkins 911.0 PPG) and Ray Bowles (10.9 PPG).
As for San Jose State, they’re currently 3-20 on the year so far. The Spartans have lost their last 12 games overall, most recently falling to Colorado State on Saturday. In that one, San Jose State forward Keith Fisher managed 23 points.
Ryan Welage is the top scorer for San Jose this season, averaging 18.6 PPG and 5.3 RPG. He’s the only Spartans player in double-figures, but Fisher is reasonably close on 9.3 PPG and 6.0 RPG.
The Bulldogs are 23-6 ATS in their last 29 games following an ATS win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. Fresno State is also 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the Mountain West and 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five home games and 16-33-3 ATS in their last 52 Wednesday games. San Jose State is also 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 versus the Mountain West and the under is 13-6 in their last 19 games following a straight-up loss.
Fresno State has looked pretty good over their last couple of games, scoring a combined 159 points versus 123 points allowed. There’s not much to like about San Jose State right now, as they’ve allowed 90 points or more in three of their last five games. Fresno should be able to take care of business here. I’ll take the Bulldogs to cover.
