Friday college basketball features the Idaho State Bengals taking on the Santa Clara Broncos.
The Idaho State Bengals are shooting for consecutive victories after holding off sub-division Montana Western 74-66. A 43-33 second half run negated a two point deficit for Idaho State who held a 43.8%-37.7% shooting edge for a decisive five more baskets.
Brandon Boyd carried the Bengals offense with 15 points, four pulls and two blocks on 6-12 accuracy followed by a ten point, four board effort from Gary Chivichyan on 4-7 shooting. Chier Maker, Kelvin Jones and Balint Moscan gave Idaho State nine points each and a combined 18 rebounds while Alonzo Walker added eight points and six boards on 4-9 shooting.
The Santa Clara Broncos are gunning for a third straight win after downing Northern Arizona 81-74 Saturday as a 6.5 point home favorite. Santa Clara needed a 49-33 second have run to overcome a nine point hole heading to the looker room for intermission. The Broncos were outshot 46.8%-44.1% but survived thanks to an 11-20 effort from beyond the arc and an 19-10 advantage at the stripe.
Tahj Eaddy led the Santa Clara rally with 22 points, three yanks and three assists on 6-14 from the floor including five bombs and 5-7 at the stripe. Josip Vrankic and Trey Wertz gave the Broncos 17 points each with Vrankic hauling in 14 rebounds while Josh Martin contributed 12 points,13 rebounds and seven assists.
