The Eastern Illinois Panthers and the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks will match up in college basketball activity on Saturday.
Eastern Illinois cruises into this matchup at 12-8 overall. After two losses in three games to JSU and Murray State, the Panthers have won their last pair versus Austin Peay and Tennessee-Martin.
In the win over the Skyhawks, Eastern Illinois’ lead scorer was Josiah Wallace, with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. Mack Smith added 14 points, four rebounds and two assists for the Panthers in that one.
Over on the Southeast Missouri State side, they’re 6-14 on the season. The Redhawks are currently mired in a five-game losing streak courtesy of Austin Peay, Murray State, Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky and SIUE.
In the triple-OT loss to the Cougars, SEMO’s Gabe McGlothan doubled up on 18 points, 16 rebounds and two assists. Ledarrius Brewer added 24 points for the Redhawks in that one, and Sage Tolbert put up 18 points.
The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games. EIU is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the OVC.
Meanwhile, the Redhawks are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 versus the OVC and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 home games. The over is 18-8 in SEMO’s last 26 home games and 17-8 in their last 25 versus the OVC.
The Panthers have been a little sketchy lately, and they’ve barely escaped their last pair of games (wins by a combined four points), but they’re still in good shape heading into this one.
The Redhawks should be able to put up the points here, as they’ve logged 169 across their last two outings (the 3OT game helped a lot with that). I think the line here is about right; I see it as a close win for SEMO. I’m going to stay with the Redhawks on the cover, but it may be tight.
