Seton Hall Pirates -8.5 O/U: 146.5
The DePaul Blue Demons and the Seton Hall Pirates will be meeting up on the college basketball court Saturday.
DePaul enters this one at 10-6 on the season. The Demons had won consecutive games against Seton Hall and St. John’s, but hit the wall against Butler in their last outing with an 87-69 loss.
In the loss to the Bulldogs, DePaul’s Sean McDermott and Kamar Baldwin each scored 17 points to lead the team. Baldwin, however, was able to double up with 14 rebounds and five assists as well.
Over on the Seton Hall side, they’re 12-6 this season. The Pirates are just 1-3 in their last four games, with a win over Butler mixed into losses to DePaul, Marquette and Providence.
In the loss to the Friars, Seton Hall’s Quincy McKnight led the team’s scorers on 16 points, four assists and three rebounds. Myles Powell (12 points) and Michael Nzei (10 points; eight rebounds) were in double-digits for the Pirates there as well.
DePaul is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 following a straight-up loss and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games. The Demons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the Big East and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 1-4 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games. The over is 5-1 in Seton Hall’s last six following an ATS loss and 11-5 in their last 16 versus the Big East.
DePaul looked pretty decent in the first half against Butler, sitting on a 40-36 lead at the break. Things fell apart from there as the Demons were blown out 51-29 in the second half.
Still, I expect DePaul to come back with some fight in this one and we should expect another close, hard-fought matchup like the 75-74 Demons win on January 6.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Seton Hall win this one, but the line just looks too thick to me. I’m going with DePaul here.
