The Line: Seton Hall Pirates -3.5 -- Over/Under: 148
The Louisville Cardinals and the Seton Hall Pirates meet in college basketball action from the Prudential Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Louisville Cardinals come into this one with a 4-2 record after an 82-78 overtime win over Michigan State in their last outing as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Ryan McMahon led the Cardinals with 24 points on 4 of 7 shooting from 3-point range along with a 12 of 13 mark from the foul line. Jordan Nwora added 14 points with a team-high 9 rebounds while Dwayne Sutton and Christen Cunningham each added 13 points. Sutton added a pair of threes and 6 rebounds while Cunningham added a team-high 5 assists to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for the Cardinals in the winning effort. Nwora leads Louisville with an average of 17.7 points and 7.3 rebounds while Cunningham is the Cardinals’ leading assist man with 2.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Louisville is averaging 85.3 points per game on 46.2% shooting from the field, 36% from behind the arc and 76.5% from the foul line this season.
The Seton Hall Pirates will look for a big win to add to their current 3-game winning streak after an 83-81 win over Miami in their last outing. Michael Nzei led the Pirates with 21 points on a perfect 8 of 8 from the floor while Myles Powell chipped in 17 points with 4 threes. Quincy McKnight added 16 points on 7 of 9 shooting with team-highs of 5 assists and 3 steals to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for Seton Hall in the winning effort. Powell leads the Pirates in scoring with 24.3 points per game while McKnight leads Seton Hall in assists with 3 assists per game and Sandro Mamukelashvili leads Seton Hall on the glass with 7.7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Seton Hall is averaging 73.2 points per game on 45.9% shooting from the field, 30.3% from behind the arc and 68.1% from the foul line this season.
Louisville is 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games against the Big East and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 non-conference games. Seton Hall is 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games while the over is 10-4 in their last 14 games against the ACC. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
This is a tougher test than you might think for Louisville in their first true road game of the season, as Seton Hall has been playing quite well with their win over Miami in their last outing. However, the Pirates have issues scoring from time to time, and I really liked what I saw from Louisville in their win over Michigan State and even though that game was at home, I think that the Cardinals have enough talent to keep this one close if not win this game outright so I’ll take Louisville and the points in this one.
