The Saint Peter’s Peacocks will travel to the Times Union Center to take on the Siena Saints this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.
The Saint Peter’s Peacocks lost their 7th straight game and dropped to 6-19 (3-10 MAAC) on the season after being defeated by the Rider Broncs, 71-65, this past Sunday. Saint Peter’s really struggled from beyond the arc against the Rider defense and couldn’t fight back after the Broncs took 57-41 lead with 9:36 left in the 2nd half. Saint Peter’s shot 45.1% from the field and just 9.1% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Peacocks was Davauhnte Turner who had 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals.
On the season, Saint Peter’s is averaging 61.6 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field. The Peacocks are averaging 6.1 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Saint Peter’s has been led by Davauhnte Turner (16.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.6 apg), Samuel Idowu (11.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.8 bpg), Quinn Taylor (7.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.1 apg), and Dallas Watson (6.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 2.8 apg).
Defensively, Saint Peter’s is allowing their opponents to average 69.3 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Peacocks have a rebound margin of 0.4 and a turnover margin of -2.6.
The Siena Saints lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 13-14 (8-6 MAAC) on the season after being defeated by the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 107-100 in triple-OT, in this past Sunday. Siena fought back from a 39-24 halftime deficit to force the OT’s, however, Siena had no answers for the Bobcats Cameron Young who dropped 55 points against the Saint and couldn’t fight back Quinnipiac took a 102-97 lead with :46 seconds left in triple-OT. Leading the way for the Saints was Jalen Pickett who had 46 points, 13 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 block, and 4 steals.
On the season, Siena is averaging 62.1 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Saints are averaging 8.6 three-pointers per game on 33.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Siena has been led by Jalen Pickett (15.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 6.4 apg, 2.1 spg), Evan Fisher (15.4 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.6 apg), Kevin Degnan (8.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.3 spg), and Manny Camper (6.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.3 apg).
Defensively, Siena is holding their opponents to an average of 64.1 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Saints have a rebound margin of -3.5 and a turnover margin of 1.0.
The Peacocks are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 Tuesday games, however, are just 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Saints are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.
Saint Peter’s has lost 10 of their last 12 games and although their defense has been decent as they rank 126th in scoring defense, the Peacocks offense has really struggled as they come into this game ranked just 344th in scoring offense & 313th in FG%.
Siena has won 7 of their last 10 games and currently rank 342nd in scoring offense, 22nd in scoring defense, and 125th in turnover margin.
Siena might have dropped their last two games, however, the Saints have been playing well in conference play this season and it’s encouraging to see some of their freshman, including Jalen Pickett, start to really play well. Saint Peter’s was able to pick up a win agianst Siena earlier this season, however, I just don’t see how the Peacocks, who are 1-13 on the road this season, will be able to put up many points agianst the Siena defense and I’m going to take Siena to cover this home spread. Good Luck!
