SMU Mustangs +4.5 O/U: 133.5
The Cincinnati Bearcats and the SMU Mustangs will meet up in college basketball action on Wednesday.
Cincinnati comes in here with a 23-4 mark overall. The Bearcats have won their last three straight games, taking out Wichita State, UCF and Connecticut in that span.
In the win over the Huskies, Cincinnati’s top scorer was Keith Williams on 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Also in double-figures for the Bearcats in that one were Justin Jenifer (10 points) and Cane Broome (10 points).
Over on the SMU side, they’re 13-13 this year. The Mustangs have lost six of their last seven games, falling to Wichita State, Cincinnati, South Florida, UCF, Temple and UCF again in that time.
In the second loss to UCF, SMU had zero players in double-figures or any category, scoring just 48 points versus the Knights’ 95. Ethan Chargois led the Mustangs on nine points there, and Jimmy Whitt pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
The Bearcats are 5-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss. Cincinnati is 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the AAC.
Meanwhile, the Mustangs are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. SMU is 1-4 ATS in the last five home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall.
Cincinnati’s win over Connecticut wasn’t exactly the flashiest thing in the world, but it got the job done and keeps the team rolling.
SMU got close the last time these teams met up, falling in Cincinnati 73-68. With this likely being a lower-scoring affair, and with the home push for the Mustangs, I like SMU to get a little closer here and hang around for most of the game, but with they way they’ve been playing I don’t think they’ll be able to close things out. I’m taking Cincinnati on a slim cover.
