The Line: South Alabama Jaguars -3 -- Over/Under: 148
The Appalachian State Mountaineers and the South Alabama Jaguars will meet up on the college basketball circuit Thursday.
App State comes in here at 5-8 on the season. The Mountaineers are 1-3 over their last four games, beating Milligan and falling to South Florida, Georgetown and St. Louis otherwise.
In the Billikens game, Appalachian State was led by Ronshad Shabazz, with 13 points, three rebounds and an assist. Isaac Johnson was the only other Mountaineer in double-figures there, doubling up on 11 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.
Over on the South Alabama side, they’re 7-6 this season. The Jaguars had a three-game win streak going versus Tulane, Alabama A&M and Mobile, but lost their last outing versus Richmond.
In the Spiders matchup, South Alabama’s top scorer was Josh Ajayi, with 25 points and six rebounds. Kory Holden added 19 points and six assists for the Jaguars there, and Trhae Mitchell posted 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Mountaineers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven following an ATS loss and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight following a straight-up loss. App State is 10-22-3 ATS in their last 35 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Jags are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine Thursday games and 29-14-1 ATS in their last 44 following an ATS loss. South Alabama is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Sun Belt.
Appalachian State puts up some pretty good points totals on a regular basis, but even when they’re clicking offensively they simply allow too much on the other side.
The Jaguars are in something of the same situation, but they seem a little more consistent with their performances this year. I’m going to stick with South Alabama on the cover.
