South Alabama Jaguars +6.5 O/U: 142
The Georgia State Panthers and the South Alabama Jaguars will meet up on the college basketball circuit Thursday.
Georgia State cruises into this matchup at 13-4 on the year. The Panthers have won their last six games in a row, taking out UNCW, Middle Georgia State, TX-Arlington, Texas State, Louisiana and LA-Monroe.
In the close win over the Warhawks, Georgia State was led by D’Marcus Simonds’ 28 points, five rebounds and two assists. The only other Panthers in double-figures there was Devin Mitchell with 16 points.
Over on the South Alabama side, they’re 9-8 this year. The Jaguars had won consecutive games versus App State and Coastal Carolina, but they’ve dropped their last pair versus Arkansas State and Little Rock.
In the loss to the Trojans, South Alabama’s top scorer was Trhae Mitchell with 22 points, three assists and six rebounds. Josh Ajayi and Kory Holden each tallied 14 points for the Jaguars in that one.
The Panthers are 7-0 ATS in their last seven following an ATS loss and 6-2 ATS in the last eight Thursday games. Georgia State is 6-2 ATS in the last eight versus the Sun Belt and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Jags are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 Thursday games and 30-14-1 ATS in the last 45 following an ATS loss. The over is 4-0 in South Alabama’s last four home games and 5-1 in the last six overall.
Georgia State’s win over the Warhawks was pretty sketchy, as they took an 11-point lead into halftime and saw it evaporate in the second half. Still, the Panthers fended off a plucky effort by LA-Monroe.
As for South Alabama, they’ve hit the wall over their past couple of outings and I really can’t trust them right now. I’m going to stick with the Panthers here.
